Mikey (formerly named "WinKaraoke") is
born on a simple idea: it's easy to play songs with a PC, to have a Karaoke you simply
need something to synchronize the text with song.
The winning idea for Mikey is the simple file format, a normal text file (with MIK file
extension) contains all the needed informations to show the words of a MID song file: each
"text page" is associated to the time (in tenths of seconds) elapsed from the
start of the song, and the program simply shows that "page" when it's time to do
it. The same method is applied to "coloring" events, i.e. the words being sung.
That's it!
And the MIK file format is freeware too, so you don't have to edit the MIDI files to
add your karaoke (like other karaoke programs do): with the Mikey Editor you can easily
create your own karaoke files!
Do you have another Karaoke program? No problem you can convert your existing *.KAR
files to *.MIK by using the integrated converter function!.
